EYEAFRICA TV: Beijing, China: Chinese President Xi Jinping recently gave important instructions on carrying forward the 20-year-old system of sending sci-tech experts to the vast rural areas across the country, in efforts to promote rural revitalization with science and technology.
In giving the instructions to mark the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the system of sending sci-tech experts to rural areas, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said that in the past 20 years since the implementation of the system, more and more experts have been sent to the countryside to serve agriculture, rural areas and farmers with science and technology.
They have helped publicize the Communist Party’s policies on agriculture, rural areas and farmers, popularize agricultural science and technology, promote sci-tech innovation and entrepreneurship in rural areas, as well as lead villagers to shake off poverty, Xi said.
They have enabled farmers to acquire a stronger sense of gain and happiness, he said.
Xi stressed that innovation is an important support for rural revitalization, urging the relevant departments to effectively advance the system of sending sci-tech experts to rural areas as an important measure to let sci-tech innovation talents serve rural revitalization. He called on the sci-tech experts to make greater contributions to the fight against poverty.
A meeting on the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the system was held in Beijing on Monday.

Liu said General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions must be upheld as the fundamental rules in advancing the system of sending sci-tech experts to rural areas in the new era.
In the implementation of the system over the past 20 years, remarkable support has been extended for promoting rural revitalization and fighting poverty, Liu said, noting that the system should be further improved along with the adoption and implementation of better policies.
