VP TOURAY EXPLAINS FOOD AID PROCUREMENT IN CONSIDERATION OF SMES 2

The Vice President and Chairperson of the COVID19 Ministerial Committee has been on self-styled advocacy on the need for Gambians to take advantage of the secondary benefit from Government’s Food Relief Package following its launching some two weeks ago.

She initial challenge on the role of the youth in the labour market generated mixed feelings among different commentators some of who expressed disappointment with her definition of jobs for them.

In a brief chat with Eyeafrica on Friday on the final touches of the food aid distribution in Banjul, Dr Isatou Touray renewed her commitment to get small scale businesses especially women in the industry to appear first.

As of end of the week, the greater percentage of the food aid had been dispatched to about 324 distribution points across the country, according to the vice president.

Seven hundred million dalasi had been used for the purchase of the relief packages in rice, oil and sugar intended to reach out to 84 percent of needy and vulnerable households in the Gambia
