Uganda Prisons bans visits to inmates due to COVID-19

EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: Uganda Prisons has banned all visits to inmates with immediate effect. This follows the president’s directives on preventive measures of Corvid-19.

Uganda Prisons Spokesperson Frank Baine says they will not take any prisoner to courts of law and video conferencing will be used in case of an emergency.

Following a directive issued by President Museveni on the preventive measures of Combating Corvid-19, Uganda Prisons has introduced restrictions in regard to their Operations. Baine highlighted the reasons for restricting visitors in prisons. Big Congregations such as Sports gatherings have also been restricted.
