EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: Gambian Philantropist Momodou Turo Darboe Friday visited injured victims of the Monday Faraba Banta incident at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul where he promised them that his foundation, Vision Development Foundation would foot the bill for them for any overseas treatment.
Mr. Darboe also promised to take care of the victims’ medical bill forthwith and to support their families hence majority of them are their families’ breadwinner.
The Monday incident sparked a wave of panic in the country which shows a colossal destruction of properties following the residents demand for explanation on how a construction company called Julakay constriction acquired licence to conduct sand mining in their community.
Earlier on Tuesday, President Barrow visited the victims at the hospital and promised that his government would apply the full force of the law to ensure justice and accountability and assured that such will never be repeated under his watch.
Mr. Darboe told the victims that the Faraba issue was a great concern to president Barrow and encouraged them to let bygones be bygones and maintain the peace.
The victims said they have recognise government efforts and the president inparticular.
