Turkish President Erdogan visits to Germany to open new page in bilateral relations

EYEAFRICA TV: Berlin, THE GAMBIA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier today to discuss ways to improve political and economic relations between the two countries.
President Erdogan and First Lady arrived in Berlin on yesterday for a three-day state visit.

The Turkish president was received with military honors by Steinmeier at the presidential palace Schloss Bellevue.
The visiting head of state also meets with German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a working lunch in Berlin.
Earlier this week the Turkish leader called for opening a fresh page in Turkish-German relations, in an article published in German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Saying “The dramatic developments in the world make it indispensable for both Germany and Turkey to open a new page in bilateral relations, to leave aside their differences and focus on their common interests,” he stressed.
Relations between Ankara and Berlin suffered several setbacks in past years, but both sides have taken steps in recent months towards improving ties.
