Turkey to prepare Gambia Police for successful OIC hosting

EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: The transcontinental nation of Turkey will be offering training to The Gambia Police Force in preparation for the country’s hosting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) next year.
A four-man delegation from the Turkish Police academy who are currently in the country will visit as part of preparations to commence the training with the police.
Gambia bid to host the 57-member states international Islamic organisation next year 2019 with preparations on high gear.
In September last year, President Adama Barrow laid the foundation stone of a Chinese government-sponsored Gambia International Conference Centre at Bijilo National Park where the summit is expected to be hosted.
The $50 million edifice, when completed and operational, would provide sitting capacity of up 1,000 conference participants, four conference halls with hundreds of sitting capacity, one VIP room, four press rooms, 14 meeting rooms, offices, banquet halls and entertainment spaces with a wonderful view of the sea on the sideways. It is expected to be completed in 2019.
Turkey, a long time ally of The Gambia that can provide logistics and man power in the areas of security and protocol with other benefits has already shown readiness to help the country host a successful OIC conference.
During their trip, the delegation will visit Jiboro, Airport, Gambia police training school, Amdalai border post, PIU head quarters and storage facility among other installations.
Before engaging in any activity, the delegation will meet the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and all other service chiefs for a briefing. Visits will include paying a courtesy to leaders of the country to prepare for training and exchanging notes with our security apparatus on logistics, training and the provision of latest equipment.
