EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: A heavy thunderstorm interrupted Eye Africa television broadcast services at the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) on Tuesday.
Laptops and several other broadcast equipment got blown in the middle of live coverage of the ninth session of TRRC.
Eye Africa TV, until the natural blast, remained one of the most followed online platforms where many Gambians, both home and abroad follow daily proceedings of the Commission.
“This incident caused immediate blackout for our viewers all over the globe, some of who have been sending messages of inquiries,” says Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Lamin Kanteh.
He conveyed the company’s apology to all followers for the interruption and assured that the matter is being look into for resumption of broadcast as soon as possible.
“Our technical team is doing its best to continue the usual broadcast on Wednesday as more high-profiled testimonies are expected from the TRRC”, he assured.
Eye Africa has since the launching of the TRRC in January 2019 stationed a permanent unit to purposely cover all proceedings of the commission at the Dunes Hotel. The unit works interchangeably with the studios at the TV’s headquarters in Wellingara, West Coast Region.
