Senegalese President Sall Attends UN General Assembly

EYEAFRICA TV: Dakar, SENEGAL: President of Senegal Macky Sall left the capital Dakar for New York to take part in the 74th Ordinary Session of the United Nations General Assembly, his office announced.

The theme of this year’s session is “Boosting Multilateral Efforts to Eradicate Poverty, Quality Education, Action on Climate Change and Inclusion”.

President Sall is expected to address the plenary of the Assembly on Tuesday. He will also take part in several side events, in addition to bilateral hearings and talks.

According to the release from Senegalese Presidency, Mr Sall will deliver address to the US-Africa Business Center, which is a component of the US Chamber of Commerce.

He will also host a conference at Yale University on the theme: “Africa in International Relations contemporary “.

Mr Sall returns to Senegal on Thursday 26 the September.

About the General Assembly

All 193 Member States of the Organization are represented in the General Assembly every September – one of the six main organs of the UN – to discuss and work together on a wide array of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations, such as development, peace and security, and international law.

Sitting arrangements in the General Assembly Hall change for each session. During the 74th Session (2019-2020), Ghana will occupy the first seat in the Hall, including in the Main Committees (followed by all the other countries, in English alphabetical order).
