EYEAFRICA TV: Brussels, BELGIUM: Senegalese President Macky Sall is in Brussels where he is participating in the 11th edition of the European Development Days which begins today, June 6th and ending on June 8th.
President Sall is participating at the invitation of Jean Claude Juncker, President of the Commission of the Union.
This is the second time President Sall has been invited to this European Union meeting after the October 2012 edition.
On the theme “Investing in Development”, this years event which brings together several participants every year, is a platform for high-level exchanges on development issues.
President Sall addressed the opening ceremony of the meeting and will later in the day hold several bilateral meetings with the leaders of the European Union and Belgium.
Compact G20 Initiative for Africa
Meanwhile, on 12th and 13th June, President Sall will take part in the meeting of the Compact G20 for Africa at the invitation of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel who is also the President-in-Office of the G20.
The Compact G20 initiative for Africa was launched by Chancellor Merkel to help promote investment for sustained and sustainable growth in Africa.
Senegal is among the five countries selected for the pilot phase of the implementation of this initiative, in addition to Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Rwanda and Tunisia.
Prior to this, on the morning of June 12, President Sall will honour the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron to Paris.
