EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: Gambia’s former president Yahya Jammeh’s one-time secretary to Cabinet today told the Commission of Inquiry that Mr. Jammeh removed has his former Secretary General Momodou Sabally from office for advising him to hold the awarding of contract for the construction of ferry sleep ways at Banjul, Barra and other seaports because he was not comfortable with the process.
Noah Touray, who worked for Mr. Jammeh for more than four years said as a result of this and many other advices, Sabally was removed from office and he believe that it is because of such why many people were sacked.
Mr. Touray said former president Jammeh has a free hand attitude in the way he was leading the country. “If he give your orders and you deny them, you will lose you job; perhaps that will be the lightest punishment.”
He said he has been working as a civil servant for 25 years and if he decide to resign in protest of the unconstitutional orders from Mr. Jammeh, he fears that he may lose his entire bemefits. “We were operating under an abnormal system. Jammeh exercise power with aggression,” Mr. Touray said.
