PRESIDENT BARROW REPORTS SITUATION OF ECONOMIC SHUTDOWN TO UN

President Adama Barrow said during the UN high-level virtual meeting on Thursday that Gambia’s economy is among those collapsing due to Covid 19 pandemic.

 

The event was convened on `Financing for Development on COVID-19′ for world leaders to discuss strategies towards economic recovery and financing development in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.

President Barrow expressed the need for urgent implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development because of the coronavirus more in this video

The Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres said it was clear that many developing countries lacked the financial means to recover from the impact of Covid 19.

The Chairman of the African Union, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa called for total debt cancellation for African countries.
