President Barrow declares public holidays in observance of Eid Ul-Fitr

EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA:- President Adama Barrow has declared Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th May 2021 as Public Holidays throughout the country in observance of the Feast of Eid-ul-Fitr.

A statement released by the presidency said: “The Office of the President wishes to inform the General Public that His Excellency President Adama Barrow, acting under section 76 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia is pleased to declare Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th May 2021 as Public Holidays throughout the country in observance of the Feast of Eid-ul-Fitr to mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

President Barrow wishes all Gambians at home and abroad a happy and joyous Eid Celebration.”

Meanwhile, the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC) has asked Muslims to carefully sight the crescent moon this evening and inform the council.

Elsewhere, Saudi Arabia and several other Muslim countries have declared Thursday as the first day of Shawwal, marking the day of Eid Al-Fitr.
