PRESIDENT BARROW DECLARES ANOTHER STATE OF EMERGENCY 21 DAYS

President Adama Barrow  on Tuesday addressed the nation, few hours after the National Assembly ended the second Extra-Ordinary Session meant to address challenges around the coronavirus global pandemic.

Acting on powers conferred on him under section 34 subsection 6 of the 1997 constitution extended the state of public emergency to another 21 days.

 

Lawmakers in Banjul voted against the extension of the state of Public Emergency on Saturday despite earlier recommendation by a smaller committee for additional 21 days.

He said the extension also include re-issued of the emergency regulations that were in force before the state of public emergency expired They included the regulations declared on the 26 march and extended by the national assembly on 3 April 2020 more in this video
