EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: Gambia’s agriculture Minister Omar Alpha Jallow has enlightened Gambia and entire Africans to stop glorifying their leaders and personalising them.
Minister Jallow appeared alongside vice president Fatoumatta Jallow-Tambajang at Gambia’s former government victims center at Kotu where he said he finds it difficult to understand why Africans worship their leaders.
” When politicians need you, they come to you and you give them your votes, then they are your servants. Once you vote for them and they are in power, they become your masters instead of being your servants. That is wrong and we must stop thinking that way. Don’t fear or worship your leaders, take them to task because they are there to serve you”.
Mr. Jallow also said Gambia’s coalition government led by President Adama Barrow is prepared to support victims of the former Jammeh regime.
The victims centre was established by victims of the former government led by former Jammeh’s one-time information minister Dr. Amadou Scattred Janneh. Gambians and families who underwent serious human violations and abuses by the former government and its security agents came together to establish the centre in their bid to get justice.
