Candidates running for president should hold, at a minimum, an undergraduate degree, according to Gambia’s Draft Constitution which is currently before the National Assembly.
Alternatively, the Draft Constitution also provides for holders of a senior secondary school certificate a chance to run for president.
On Thursday, the minority leader of the National Assembly told Eye Africa TV, that he welcomes “the flexibility” of the new constitution on matters of who is qualified to run for president.
