EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: Gambia’s President Adama Barrow today fired his Interior Minister Mai Ahmed Fatty from his cabinet appointment, apparently his first act of relieving a cabinet minister since he came to power.
Mr. Barrow took the decision under Section 71 (4) (b) of The Gambian Constitution. Mr Fatty has been re-deployed to the diplomatic service.
The President has now assigned the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubacarr M. Tambadou to oversee the Ministry of The Interior until further notice.
Mr. Fatty, a seasoned legal practitioner and former attorney of business tycoon Baba Jobe, who was accused of financial abuse by former president Yahya Jammeh and died in jail, is one of the leader of Gambia Moral Congress, one of the parties that ford the eight-party coalition that won the country’s last December election.
