EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: A Spanish Foundation, ARAMBIA, last week donated medical equipment to Kanifing General Hospital and three other hospitals. The equipment include 58 beds and mattress, baby clothing, laboratory equipment, author clip machines and uniforms. The equipment were worth over 2 million dalasi.
The Foundation’s public relations officer and proprietor of Star GSM Company, Lamin Kabba said ARAMBIA is a Spain-based Foundation and the support came through a Gambian call Muhammed Sissoho.
”It is less than one month when the foundation came to The Gambia. The Foundation was registered in The Gambia last month November and since then, we have visited Kanifing General Hospital, Banjulding Hospital, New Yundum hospital and Mandinaring hospital,” he said.
He said the hospital they have visited have all requested for support and the Foundation provided more than what they have requested.
Mr Kabba said ARAMBIA members look for help in Span people to support Gambian institutions, saying in feature, it is their plan to extend their support to agriculture and education sectors.
Enrique Cardiee, president of ARAMBIA Foundation said they started the Foundation some two years ago with his Gambian friend Muhammed Sissoho and others.
Babucarr Saine, administrator of Kanifing General Hospital said the donated equipment will provide comfortable environment for the patients and will promote their healing and recovery process, saying the comfort of the patients is also important in the healing processes.
Mr Saine pointed out that many Gambian health facilities are facing lack of beds, saying the providing of the equipment will immensely support the hospital’s operations. “There are 58 beds and these will be equitably shared among four hospitals but KGH is a big hospital so the lion share will stay here.”
