EYEAFRICA TV: Bureng, Lower River Region: President Barrow held a closed-door discussion with a high level United Nations Security Sector Reforms (SSR) Assessment mission on Wednesday, at the Central River Region –CRR- Governor’s Residence in Janjangbureh.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the President’s ongoing nationwide meet the People tour, was called to brief him on the mission of the UN assessment team in the country.
According to the United Nations SSR Unit Chief, Adedeji EBO, the assessment team would map out international stakeholders who are undertaking or planning SSR initiatives in The Gambia and recommend mechanisms to strengthen coordination.
The mandate of the team also includes assessing the opportunities and challenges (political, institutional and operational) in the national SSR process, including the current security situation, among others.
The team was led by the Resident Coordinators of the UN and the UNDP in The Gambia, Aissata De and Seraphine Wakana.
