EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: The Gambia Police Force (GPF) announced on Wednesday that it has introduced a new number plate system through a partnership with Comfort Quality Services Ltd.
The Office of the Inspector General said in a statement that unlike the existing ones, the new number plates are more durable and have stronger security features as they are built out of Aluminum. “In this regard, owners of vehicles without number plates and those with the old number plates are urged to apply for the new Aluminum Number Plates,” it says.
The Police also informed vehicle owners that they can make their application payments at Trust Bank Ltd, where a receipt will be issued. “Applicants are advised to come along with this receipt to the issuing outlets. Currently, the new number plates are issued at Banjul Police Head Quarters, Kairaba Police Station and Brikama Police Station.”
The charges for the Aluminum number plates are 1, 200 dalasi for motor vehicle number plates, 6, 30 dalasis for motor cycles and 5, 000 for personalised number plates.
It says application for replacement requires applicants to have their valid National Identification Card, motor vehicle Insurance and surrender their replaced number plates to the Police. The charges for replacement are the same as stated above.
