GDC spokesperson: Deputy Leader’s Resignation was a Personal decision

EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) spokesperson, Ahmadou Kah has denied the reasons asserted by the party’s Deputy leader, Sajor Fanta Bojang for his resignation.

Mr Kah told Eye Africa Thursday morning that Mr Bojang’s resignation was a personal decision, arguing that his statement that Kombo is been marginalized was false and those not reflect the belief of the party.

Gambia Democratic Congress is led by Mama Kandeh, a former APRC National Assembly member. It was formed in 2016 and one of the political parties that contested in Gambia’s 2016 presidential election which President Adama Barrow won as flagbearer of a seven-party coalition, ending former president Yahya Jammeh’s 22 years rule.

Mr Kah said GDC have been doing great things in the country, especially in the Kombo’s which resulted to the provision of 14 boreholes and supply of chairs to schools in Brikama, among others.

He said Mr Bojang is unrecognized in the party and The Gambia at large, saying that, showcases his inability to mount the position. He said procedures where ongoing within the party to replace him after his resignation, which was why his resignation was not known until lately.

Mr Kah said the resignation of members from GDC to join other parties, especially executive members were personal decisions and they have the right to do so. He said the resignations made no negative affect on GDC because the party is strong.

He assured that they will soon appoint a replacement for Mr Sajor, who will be more efficient and hardworking.
