The rejection of the draft constitution by the national assembly has left a dark impression on the so-called new Gambia and has highlighted the reluctance of Barrow’s administration to prioritize public and national interest.
To many, the rejection denies citizens the opportunity to usher in a new era that Gambians yearned for in 2016 to end what many believers to be tyranny. In Addressing newsmen, one of Gambia’s leading political party leader Ousainou Darboe, has told reporters that the CRC’s constitution is a reflection of modern democracy and draft addresses challenges and gaps that retarded the progress of the nation but now that the tireless efforts of the commission have been made futile and the 116 million wasted, The Secretary-General further stated that the reform process is brought to an ill-fated end.
