EYAFRICA TV: Abuja, NIGERIA:- Gambian scholar-politician, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, has been nominated for the award of Eminent Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates, (IAWPA), a global non-governmental organization affiliated to the United Nations Global Compact.
The CA party leader was nominated for his “support of sustainable peace” in The Gambia as a genuine lover of peace.
“The appointment is in consonance with the UN General Assembly Declaration of the year 2001-2011 as International Decade for Peace and Non-Violence and UNESCO Culture of Peace as further enshrined in UN Declaration of Peoples’ Rights to Peace,” IAWPA said.
The move comes ahead of the forthcoming official launch of PEACE First Campaign in Central Africa beginning from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Preparatory to UN at 76 Celebration.
“Greatly honoured to be nominated for the Award of Eminent Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates. I look forward to working as a global citizen to promote peace around the world,” Dr. Ismaila Ceesay said as he react to his nomination.
“It’s only through peace and dialogue that we can settle disagreements, avert crises, heal the wounds, wipe the tears and build the societies we want,” he added, noting that he is “committed to promoting universal peace and diplomacy for a more sustainable, progressive, and tolerant society.
The award makes him a peace advocate of the global community with exclusive right to speak in favour of global peace and against any act inimical to world peace.
The Eminent Peace Ambassador award is the highest calling and most outstanding recognition to those individuals like you whose life exemplify the ideals of living for the sake of others and who dedicate themselves to promote universal moral values and the establishment of a cultural value system predicated on trust and peace.
With this appointment, Dr. Ceesay will join the league of prominent Global Citizens to function as a Global Diplomat for the sustenance of world peace and support for the United Nations.
The objective of IAWPA is to promote peace and harmony in various local communities across the globe and to ensure that the aims and objectives of the United Nations in the maintenance of global peace is being achieved.
It networks international and regional organizations and recruits people of decent ethical manner as UN Eminent Peace Ambassador through effective screening. Some IAWPA UN Eminent Peace Ambassadors include Liberian President, George Weah.
