Gambian clubs and players learn fate in CAF interclub competition draw.
Some Gambian club coaches and players have known their routes in the preliminary rounds of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively.
GFF league champions Brikama UTD have been drawn against Morrocan side Raja Casablanca (The people’s team) in CAF Champions League knockout stage.
Senegalese Champions GenerationFoot who have in their ranks Bun sanneh and Cherno Jobe will travel to Liberia to take on LPRC Oilers whilst Tapha Manneh and Liscr will travel to Togo and face Maranatha fiokpo.
“My plan is international competition that is CAF competition. We have won all the trophies available on domestic level that we have competed in Liberia,” LPRC Gambian coach Manneh stated.
“I want the team to be going to the preliminary rounds every year, but the utmost target is to make it to the group stages. We have been knocked out twice, this season will be the third time trying.”
The first tie of the CL is either 9, 10 or 11 August and Brikama UTD gaffer Modou Lamin Nyassi admitted to a tough draw but was quick to add that they have prepared well.
He has signed five players ahead of the first leg. Tapha Njie (Bombada), Alieu Jammeh (Interior) Sainey Bojang, Modou Camara (Hawks).
Teungueth didn’t register for the confederation Cup citing inadequate funds and preparation as their reasons.
