Gambia to Attend Ecowas Meeting After 2 Years of its President’s Absence

EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: Gambia’s President, Adama Barrow is scheduled to travel to Monrovia, Liberia this Saturday where he will attend the gathering of the West African regional bloc, Ecowas Head of State.
This is the first time Mr. Barrow will be formally attending the regional leaders meeting since his election in December 1, 2016. His predecessor, Yahya Jammeh has stayed himself away from attending the body’s meeting for almost three years now.
The Monrovia summit will focus on silent issues including migration, security and the unstable situation in many member states.
In December and January this year, Ecowas played a lead role in settling Gambia’s political deadlock that emernated from the December 1 Presidential election.
Former President Yahya Jammeh conceded defeat by Adama Barrow but later changed his shape following the electoral commission’s rectification of counting errors from the country’s upper river region.
