GAMBIA ON NATIONAL LAB STRENGTHENING FOR COVID-19

Since the outbreak of coronavirus in the Gambia in March this year, the Ministry of Health has facilitated the testing of 1199 people from which twenty were confirmed positive of the virus.

 

During the first month, eight out of ten cases were imported mainly from Europe but this trend has changed in April and May, showing seven out of ten cases under treatment as a result of local transmission of the COVID-19.

 

The health authority began a mass sample collection last week resulting to about five hundred tests conducted by the only testing facility in the Gambia, The Medical Research Council.

 

However, Acting Director of Health Service, Dr Mustapha Bittaye told Journalist on Friday that the health ministry is few minutes away from the ability to conducting the coronavirus test at the national medical lab in kotu more details in this report
