EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: The National Assembly in Banjul will on Tuesday consider ratification of two loan agreements from Saudi Arabia.
One of the Loan Agreement is sought after for the Construction of VIP Lounge at the Banjul International Airport, and the other for the Roads Project in the Greater Banjul Area.
The Gambia’s Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs is expected to communicate the amount of money involved and the conditions attached in the debt servicing.
The government announced in June that the sum of 92.5 million dollars is availed to the Gambia by the Saudi Government.
According to the statement, the funding is meant for infrastructure and energy projects that will facilitate the Gambia’s hosting of the OIC Summit in 2022.
The recently concluded OIC summit in Saudi Arabia was initially scheduled for Gambia November this year.
The transfer of venue according to the Gambia’s OIC Secretariat was due to lack of money.
