Four Chinese sailors confirmed kidnapped in Gabon

EYEAFRICA TV: Beijing, China: China confirmed on Monday that four Chinese sailors were kidnapped on Saturday in Gabon.
“On Dec 22 local time, the two fishing ships that belong to Sigapeche, a China-Gabonese fishery company, were attacked by four unidentified armed militants. Four Chinese sailors aboard were taken away and remain unaccounted for,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang at a regular news conference in Beijing.
“The Chinese embassy in Gabon has urged the Gabonese side to quickly ascertain the situation, conduct immediate rescue operations and do its utmost to save the Chinese nationals,” he said, adding that “China will continue to keep a close eye on the situation.”
