EYEAFRICA TV: Kédougou, SENEGAL:- At least three journalists have died in a fatal accident in Kèdougou, Senegal after their vehicle collided with a truck.
According to Senegalese media, the three journalists are representatives of the Leral news group, who were rushing to cover the second stop of Macky Sall’s ongoing tour.
President Macky Sall is said to have learned the terrible news while in Tambacounda, during the second stage of his economic tour in the central and eastern part of the country.
According to a statement issued by the presidency spokesperson, Seydou Gueye, the “car of the reporting team, which had preceded the presidential procession remained in Tambacounda, had a frontal collision with a truck.”
Shortly after the announcement, President Sall visited the scene of the tragedy and offered his condolences.
“Following the accident on the road to Kédougou, which claimed the lives of three journalists from the news website leral.net and injured two people at the end of the morning, His Excellency Mr. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, offers his most sad condolences to the Group Administrator, Mr. Dame Dieng, to the editorial staff of Leral.net, the families of the victims and the entire Senegalese press,” the statement said.
The dispatch further stated that Macky Sall has given instructions for the rapid treatment of the wounded individuals at the Tambacounda regional hospital, and their evacuation to Dakar.
