He European Union on Wednesday announced the provision of 73 million which is about 1.3 million Euros to fund technical assistance team to work in support of the National Environment Agency and Department of Water Resources.
According to a media release from the EU Delegation, the long term project is designed to mitigate the consequences of climate change in the Gambia.
The contract will last for 36 months and provide capacity building and support to a range of climate mitigation and adaptation activities already underway as part of the European Union’s Global Climate Change Alliance GCCA+ Climate Resilient Coastal and Marine Zone project.
The European Union Ambassador to The Gambia, Attila LAJOS said that there need to be preparedness for what he called after-Covid-19 in The Gambia as anywhere else in the world.
He described “the beautiful green nature of The Gambia as one of its main assets that should not be spoiled.
