Ethiopia’s multi-billion dollar hydroelectric dam talks underway

EYEAFRICA TV: Addis Ababa, ETHIOPIA: Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan water ministers met on Tuesday in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa to commence talks on a report filed for a multi-billion dollar hydroelectric dam project on the Nile.
Leaders of the three countries agreed to conduct an independent study with a team of experts in order to dispel worries on water flow of the $4.8 billion hydroelectric dam in May.
Ethiopia’s Minister of Water, Irrigation and Electricity Seleshi Bekele and his Sudanese and Egyptian counterparts Kedir Gasmedin and Mohammed Abdulati gathered to come up with a filling strategy that would be acceptable within the board.
This is the first time the three countries came together to discuss a filling strategy of the largest dam under construction in the entire African continent to date.
