EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: Gambia’s Deputy Head of Mission to Russia has resigned, barely one week after he was named standard bearer of the newest political party, Gambia Action Party (GAP) for the 2021 Presidential Elections.
In a letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians Abroad on Friday, Lamin Bojang said the decision followed his appointment as the Presidential aspirant and flay bearer of Gambia Action Party.
“I have decided to resign from my position as the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of the Gambia to the Russian Federation,” he stated. As he prepares to return, he thanked the government “for the trust and confidence reposed in him.
The former army commander was unveiled as presidential candidate based on trust that he is competent and passionate about national development.
Musa Batchilly, party leader and Secretary General assured that Mr Bojang “is the solution to all problems we are facing today”, adding that, with him, “GAP will win the next presidential election.”
