EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: A day after the end of its second phase of public consultation in build up to the next constitution of The Gambia, The Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) decided to keep the door open to end of December.
Until then, the public has access to provide the commission with written contributions on all matters concerning constitutional provisions.
The commission announced on Wednesday that the shift in deadline was “due to the numerous requests it received” to enable the public to continue consultation on the Draft Constitution.
It assures the public that opinions shared will be properly reviewed and factored in the final national document.
From this stage, the commission is expected to deliver its final copy to the executive who will prepare the bill to be tendered before the National Assembly for adoption. Thereafter, a referendum will be held to determine to signify a replace the 1997 Constitution or otherwise.
