Chinese gov’t attaches great importance to information disclosure: official

EYEAFRICA TV: Beijing, China: The Chinese government highly values information disclosure and will continue to brief the public about the development of the epidemic situation of novel coronavirus, said an official at a press conference held in Beijing on Wednesday.

According to Xu Shuqiang, director of Emergency Management Office under China’s National Health Commission, the commission instructed the municipal health commission of Wuhan to publish relevant information as early as Dec 31, 2019 and on Jan. 3, 5, 9, 2020, and since then the relative information has been disclosing to the public on a daily basis.

“We attach great importance to information disclosure which is very important. In order to provide timely, accurate and comprehensive epidemic information to the public, from Jan. 20, the National Health Commission puts together and publishes all the numbers of confirmed cases and suspected cases of all provinces every day. Such information can be found on the website of the National Health Commission. This system of daily reporting will be carried forward even during the Spring Festival holiday until there is no need for that,” said Xu.
