China’s medical expert team leaves for Russia to help fight against COVID-19

EYEAFRICA TV: Harbin, CHINA: A Chinese team of specialists boarded a plane to Moscow at the Harbin Taiping International Airport on Saturday, to assist Russia in their fight against the spread of the coronavirus, as reported by China’s foreign ministry on their official website.

According to the Russian Consulate General in Harbin, a group of specialists, including “reputable Chinese virologists and doctors who have extensive clinical experience and practical knowledge acquired during the fight against the epidemic in the country,” was invited by the government of Moscow.

In addition, several tons of medical protective equipment were reportedly donated by the province of Heilongjiang and sent to Russia on the same plane.

The team carries urgently needed medical supplies donated by China, including surgical masks, medical masks, N95 masks and medical protective clothing.

Upon arrival, these experts will exchange experiences with their counterparts of Russia and offer training for medics on the prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of the COVID-19.

According to media reports, the Communist Party Secretary of Heilongjiang Zhang Qingwei personally came to see off the group at the airport, as well as representatives of local government and Russian Consulate General in Harbin diplomats.

According to the latest data, 13584 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Russia, 1667 were detected over the past day.
