China's central bank to issue Year of Rat coins

EYEAFRICA TV: Shanghai Municipality, east China: The People’s Bank of China, the central bank, announced that it will issue the Year of the Rat commemorative coins and subscription registration period will be December 19-22.
The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Bank of China will accept subscriptions in their websites.
The commemorative coins to be issued are two, one in silver with the Chinese character “Fu”, meaning fortune and happiness, and the other in copper-gold alloy, with the zodiac sign of rat carved in bold relief.
“I came here at about 04:00 for the registration. I want to collect the coins,” said a collector waiting at a branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China for subscription registration.
“I want to buy the coins and give them to children in my family as New Year gifts,” said another collector.
The PBC is expected to release 2.7 million such silver coins and 250 million copper-gold coins in two batches in the year of 2020. The first batch will be issued from January 17-20 and the second batch, from February 21-24.
