EYEAFRICA TV: Beijing, China: China strongly condemns and opposes the Tibet-related bill passed by the United States and urges the U.S. to cease using Tibet-related issues to interfere in China’s internal affairs, a foreign ministry spokesperson said Thursday.
Spokesman Geng Shuang’s remarks came after the House of Representatives passed the so-called “Tibetan Policy and Support Act of 2019” on Wednesday.
The act severely violates the international law and the basic norms governing international relations, grossly interferes in China’s internal affairs and sends a seriously wrong signal to the separatist forces of “Tibetan Independence,” Geng said.
“China’s policy and position on Tibet-related issues are consistent and clear. Tibetan affairs are purely China’s internal affairs and allow no foreign interference. We will never accept the U.S. bill that ignores facts and is biased against China. We urge the United States to fully recognize the high sensitivity of Tibet-related issues, honor its commitment to China on these issues, stop using Tibet-related issues to interfere in China’s internal affairs and stop pushing the relevant act,” he said.
