The satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo republished prophet Muhammad cartoons to mark the beginning of the 2015 massacre trial in Paris today.
The trial kicked off following the delay posed by the coronavirus pandemic. 14 accused persons are facing trials in France for helping the Islamist militants who shot dead more than 12 people in and around Charlie Hebdo’s Paris office in January 2015.
Charlie Hebdo has a history of attracting controversy with its publications caricaturing prophet Muhammed on its cover pages whose depiction is forbidden in most Islamic interpretations.
