EYEAFRICA TV: Dakar, Senegalese: President Adama Barrow has arrived in the Senegalese capital, Dakar where he will join his counterpart president Macky Sall for the second edition of the presidential council meeting between the two countries.
Since Mr Barrow came to power in 2017, the two head of states agreed to heightened the relationship and cooperation of the two countries and developed strategic partnership for the interest of the nations.
The first edition of the presidential council meeting was held in Banjul in 2018 following president Barrow’s visit to Dakar in 2017, during which several agreements were made to improve close ties and cooperation in different sectors of developmental program of the two states.
With the two head of states due to pride over of Thursday’s meeting, experts and ministers of the countries have met to review on the progress made on the outcome of the first meeting in Banjul ahead of tomorrow’s meeting in Dakar.
Permanent secretary 2 of Gambia’s ministry of Foreign affairs, Sulayman Alieu Njie said, deliberations during the meeting will focus on key areas of development aimed at improving close relations between the two nations as per agreed by the two head of states.
His Senegalese counterpart said the meeting seeks to open new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
The draft reports and roadmaps for the various agreements discussed during the experts and ministerial meeting would be presented to the two leaders for consideration during final of the meeting.
Gambia and Senegal have strong ties, and with the renewed commitment of the leaders to improve relations and organized a bi-annual meeting between the countries, this can only but cement the relationship of the people of the neighboring countries.
