After 14-year absence, Gambia face Ghana in AFCON U20 semi-final

EYEAFRICA TV: Nouadhibou,  MAURITANIA:- After 14 years of absence and waiting, The Gambia will face Ghana in the Total Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semifinals.

The young scorpions trashed Central African Republic by 3 goals to 0 in the quarterfinal on Friday to set up another showdown with the young Ghanaian side.

Goals from Wally Fofana, Momodou Bojang and Alieu Barry means the Gambia U20 comfortably collected the needed 3 points to progress to the AFCON 2020 semifinals.

Gambia’s Lamarana Jallow wins Back-to-back Man of the Match awards for yet another exceptional display in Gambia’s win against Central African Republic.

The Gambia last played AFCON U20 semifinal in 2007 where the young Nigerian side defeated the young scorpions by a goal to nil. The promising team went on to win the third place playoff after beating Zambia by 3 goals to 1.

This young side however, is regarded as one of the favorites in the competition. With a win in the semifinals, Gambia could either face Uganda or Tunisia in the 2020 AFCON U20  finals.

We thank UN and Goodluck Jonathan the chief mediator of West Africa for their efforts on the bargaining New Draft Constitution of The Gambia. The political analysis in Gambia has been major concern to we The Gambian citizens because political leaders are not willing to cooperate for the tranquility of this country. The retroactive clause the New Draft Constitution should be taken to parliament discuss not any political decision and Ousainou Darboe, should know that at this time we do not have time for proper mediation and negotiation to approve the New Constitution.
