EYEAFRICA TV|: Banjul, The Gambia: Wah Sa Halat entertainment will host one of the biggest music award ceremony in The Gambia, on January 31st, in Pencha mi Hall at Paradise Suites hotel, in recognition of their hard work and the positive impacts artists are doing in the country. This will be part of the entertainment company’s 5th edition of the music award.
At a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the awards, chief executive officer and founder of Wah sa halat, Sally Njie -commonly call Sister Njie- explained the efforts they are putting in to make the event bigger and better. She said it will add value to the positive impacts of the entertainment industry. She stated that this year’s awards will include online and print media category.
Sister Njie further said that misconception of some companies about the award ceremony remain a great challenge, saying sponsoring the event should not come as a favour to the committee but they should consider the impact it will make on the community.
She also emphasised that nominations are based on hard work, impact and visibility of the artist and selections will be based on votes received from people and judges.
She also added that Wah Sa Halat award was born from a radio show that she used to host where the idea was welcomed by her husband and international associates.
Xmyls, founder of Blacklynx and a committee member encourage people to participate in promoting music and to desist from discouraging music promoters, especially female promoters.
He stated that for an artist to be nominated mean winning the recognition of what he or she do for a whole year.
He added that the awards is organised to recognise and encourage artists or musicians to put in more efforts for a better industry.
