EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: Health and social welfare minister Dr. Amad Lamin Samateh revealed Wednesday evening that two of the three Gambians under treatment of Covid-19 pandemic have recovered and discharged.
Though he could not tell the names but said the only one case now is receiving care at a government treatment center.
Gambia registered four cases of the virus on three Gambians and a Bangladeshi who entered the country from Senegal. He was confirmed to have contract the virus after his death. The other three cases were all imported from the United Kingdom and France.
‘Since the beginning of the pandemic, all confirm cases are imported and no indication of local transmission. This is an opportunity for entire country to work together,’ Dr. Samateh said.
He appealed to Gambians to continue abiding by the health advices to prevent local transmission, saying globally over 850, 000 in over 200 countries and territories have contracted the virus with 42, 000 deaths.
He also encouraged people to report any suspected case to 1025, maintaining that the more ‘we commit ourselves to the challenges, the better for all of us. So lets stay together in the fight to defeat Covid-19.’
