Former Brazilian international and legendary footballer, Ronaldinho, was released Monday by a Paraguayan judge after five months in detention for entering the South American country with a fake passport.
Judge Gustavo Amarilla decreed freedom for the Brazilian player but fined him 90, 000 dollars. His brother, Roberto de Assis Moreira, gets 110,000 dollars fine.
Ronaldinho and his brother were arrested in March and sent to a high security jail.
In April, he was moved to a luxury hotel under house arrest.
The 40-year-old former World Cup winner is free to travel but Judge Gustavo said he must inform his Court if he changes his permanent residence within a year.
Ronaldinho is a prominent award-winning footballer, and is considered as one of the greatest of all time.
He played a crucial role in Brazil’s 2002 World Cup win and has played for European giants such as Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain during a 10-year career in Europe.
Ronaldinho retired from competitive soccer in 2015.
