Gambia: Rights Activists questions presidency on National Identity contract award

EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: A right to information advocacy group Right to Know (R2K) has asked President Adama Barrow to explain to the entire nation why he approved the awarding of national identity card award award to Semlex.

The group wrote on a billboard at one of the most famous place city center West Field questioning Mr. Barrow why he went ahead to approve the contract award to Semlex while the company is being investigated for criminal activities.

Last month, government announced it will start processing biometric identity cards starting October 1 at a price of 450 dalasi. This came under criticism with many saying the amount was too high for low income earners.
