President Julius Maada Bio effects major cabinet reshuffle

EYEAFRICA TV: Freetown, Sierra Leone: Sierra Leonean president Julius Maada Bio, Tuesday effected a major reshuffle of his cabinet which saw him bringing a new defence minister and sixteen other replacements.

The presidency said in a statement that the appointments were subject to the approval of the parliament.

In the new changes, States House as Chief Innovation Officer Moinina David Sengeh was moved to the government flagship Ministry of Basic and Primary education.

A new Ministry of Environment has also been created in which the president appointed Professor Foday Jaward. Brigadier Rtd Kellie Conteh becomes the new defence minister, while Denis K Vandi is appointed agriculture and forestry minister.

President Bio also appointed P. K Lansana as minister of water resources and Manti Trawally as minister of gender and childrens’ affairs.
