EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, THE GAMBIA: Prince Charles of Wales accompanied by Duchess of Cornwall has just landed at the Banjul International Airport for a three days visit to the country.
The diplomacy is significant as the Gambia is just returning to the commonwealth bloc (in February) after former president Yahya Jammeh solitarily pulled the country out.
President Adama Barrow will hold special welcoming ceremony for the royal family at the McCarthy Square in Banjul.
This is Prince Charles first outing to a commonwealth nation since he got voted during the commonwealth heads of governments meeting in April this year as the next successor of the Queen. He will later in the week continue his tour to Ghana and Nigeria.
While in Banjul, the royal highness will pay homage to the world war fallen heroes at the Fajara war cemetery, recognise efforts of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Unit in The Gambia for research into diseases and public health challenges in the continent.
