EYEAFRICA TV: Banjul, The Gambia: Gambia’s President Adama Barrow said on Wednesday afternoon that his relationship with vice president Ousainou Darboe is ‘very’ pure and normal and has no hitches as speculated by a greater number of Gambian population.
“The question is about politics and as far as I am concern, I am an independent candidate and I don’t belong in any political party so I will not comment on party-politics,” Mr. Barrow told journalists Wednesday after returning from Egypt where he attended the 3rd Africa Business Forum in Sharm El Sheikh.
Shortly after his re-election as United Democratic Party (UDP) Secretary General and leader on Sunday, media reports indicate that VP Darboe said his party “does not recognize the newly set up Barrow Youth Movement or any Movement pretending to be UDP.”
But Mr. Barrow told journalists that the most important thing is he is elected to work for Gambian people to develop and move the country forward. “That is why today, my focus is to go to Basse to launch the roads and bridges and open the Farafenni Bridge on December 21.”
He appealed to Gambians to be united and be together which will make the country stronger, saying to him, Gambia is bigger than anyone which, he said is the most important thing to him.
