UN: over 5million people are in need of humanitarian assistance

EYEAFRICA TV: Bamako, MALI: The UN Assistant-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs has affirm that over 5million people are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection in the West Africa nation of Mail.
Mrs Ursula Mueller is currently in Mali to ascertain for herself Mali’s humanitarian needs. Where she meets with representatives of aid organizations to better understand the challenges they face in providing life-saving protection assistance and with local authorities, stressing the need to scale up conflict resolution, access to basic social services and protection.

The number of internally displaced people has sharply increased since the beginning of the year to over 75,000 by the end of July. In Mopti one of the administrative region with covers less than 80km square, has increased in displaced peoples from 2,000 to 12,000 from April to July.
